Combined Lions Club of Tahuna, Morrinsville and Morrinsville Pakeke

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the combined clubs for again making the generous donation of $800 from the proceeds of their casualty calf collections from the 2020 farming calendar. Also like to thank the Tahuna & Districts Lions and Tahuna Golf Club for hosting the farmers, schools, childcares and guests.

E-Pro 8 Week

Discovery has been a hive of activity this week as the senior students year 5 & 6 partake in a week of Epro8 challenges.  Epro8 is a programme offered to our school that challenges students with various engineering activities requiring problem solving, innovation, teamwork and creativity.

The week-long programme incorporates all curriculum areas and allows students to see a real life context for their learning.

Each day has seen students learn the literacy and maths behind the design brief that they are given, then time as a team to meet the criteria provided.  So far this week, this has included building a crane with a rotating boom arm and counterweights, designing a bridge strong enough to carry a vehicle, making a rubber band launcher and building a car for a caveman powered by rubber bands.

The teamwork and innovation has been amazing to see and the opportunity for all senior students to participate in Epro8 has been hugely beneficial.

Wonder Project in Discovery Room

Discovery Class had a visit from Andrew on Friday to share with our students the importance of innovation and problem solving, and to explain what his team at Fonterra do to create dairy products and export them to the world. Andrew will be working alongside Discovery as they take part in the Wonder Project – a science and engineering challenge involving designing and building rockets. We look forward to having him share his skills and expertise with us. The project starts in Week 5.

ANZ School Programme

Thanks to members in our community who took a home loan out with ANZ and put our school down as receiving points through the ANZ School Programme. We redeemed the points for a box of lego for each class. Our students are super excited to use this lego!

Fun Day Netball

On Tuesday the 25th May we entered 4 netball teams into the Morrinsville Fun Day at Campbell Park. Big thankyou to the parents who coached, and or provided transport. With your support we are able to offer these fantastic opportunities to our students. On my visit out to watch our students play I was impressed with the enthusiasm and willingness to get involved! Property Update

Resolution room is our library and learning centre which is now completed! This room is a fantastic resource to have where our students have the opportunity to access a range of books to enjoy in a comfortable library setting. Also the learning centre will be utilised for our learning support programmes.

Endeavour room is completed with the flooring all done and the bag room has had its flooring done and the autex put up on the walls. Looks very impressive!
