Principals Comment
Kia ora koutou,
I had the pleasure of teaching Endurance class in week 2 and I was impressed with their efforts on their ‘ambition medals’ Each child created an ambition that they would like to achieve and it was also great to see how enthusiastic they were about achieving their ambition. Last week I had an enjoyable day in Endeavour class and it was great to listen to some children read. On my travels around our school during break times it is positive to see our children involved and engaged in games and play that promote good relationships and including others. Also I enjoy seeing our children showing acts of kindness and role modelling this value for all to see.

We would like to welcome our new children who have recently started. They are Liam, Decovan and Jashan. They have all made a fantastic start to their learning at Tahuna School.

3 Way Conferences – Parent, child and teacher interviews
Due to the most recent outbreak we are closely monitoring the alert levels and as a result we will put conferences on hold until we return to level 1.

Teacher Only Day (TOD)
We have our next TOD on Friday the 10th September. The teachers are working on developing our localised curriculum and working with our Morrinsville Kahui Ako within school leaders who are Linda and Jo.

Covid 19 Response
It is really important we do everything we can to keep our community safe. Alert Level 4 means we need to stay home in our bubbles and avoid any travelling as much as possible.  Supermarkets, pharmacies, foodbanks and other essential services will be open – but remember to wear a face covering if you are out and about (even a scarf wrapped around your mouth and nose will help). Check in using the NZ COVID Tracer App wherever you go and please also keep a distance from people you don’t know and wash your hands well and often, especially before and after using any public facilities.

With such short notice we weren’t able to hand out devices and hard packs to children in order to support distance learning. The teachers are working on preparing for distance learning should we continue to be in lockdown after this afternoons announcement. If the lockdown does continue we will be posting some information on the school website, facebook and via school stream in support of the distance learning which will start next week.

Our focus as always will be to support the learning, safety and wellbeing of our children and we continue to be here to support you as well.

Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or myself if there is something you need assistance with.

We have done it before and we can do it again! Stay safe everyone, keep calm and be kind.

RSE Survey
Due to alert level 4 and not being able to return the paper survey to the school office, the RSE survey consultation has been extended to Friday 27th August. Please follow the links below for Survey Monkey that relates to your child’s or children’s class level.
