Principals Comment

Kia ora Kautou katoa,

It is great to be back at school and seeing the happy faces on our children as they reconnect in person with their friends, classroom members and staff. It gives me a great sense of pride that our children are happy to be back and all have settled back into their learning routines very quickly.

I will take this opportunity to thank our children for participating in our distance learning programmes. The positive feedback I have got from teachers and parents has been very encouraging. I was totally impressed with the fantastic photos that were shared of our children participating in either the learning challenges, classwork or hanging out and keeping busy whilst at home. I would also like to thank our parents for your support with our distance learning programmes. I know it is a challenging time during lockdown with juggling distance learning, work commitments and family commitments. I appreciate your efforts and support of our school.

l like to thank our teachers for their planning, effort and work during lockdown to provide distance learning and a source of support for your child during this challenging time.

Parent interviews
At this stage due to still being in alert 2 we can’t have parent interviews. We are waiting to see how the alert levels will be in the near future for us to progress with parent interviews or not. We are closely approaching the end of Term 3 and I know the teachers have been working hard on getting their classrooms quickly back into learning routines and progressing as fast as they can to be where they need to be by the end of Term 3.

Talent Quest
The date for talent quest has been moved to Thursday the 30th September. Thanks to those children who have entered. Entries are now closed.

Assembly
There will be a school assembly on Monday 20th September. Unfortunately due to health measures we cannot invite parents or guests until we are back in alert 1.

Hockey
Our hockey teams will be in action today and tomorrow. The relevant health measure information is with our respected coaches. Good luck Tahuna School Teams and it’s great you are playing again. Hopefully the weather allows you to play!

Enjoy the many photos from lockdown such a proud moment of seeing our school community work together to ensure our children continue to learn from home.
