Newsletter Week 5 Term 4
Welcome back to our level 3 children and families of Tahuna School.

I would like to thank our parent community for your support with our new Level 2 health measures. It reassures all our collective efforts to keep each other safe.

Tahuna School Health Measures Alert 2
As we are at Level 2 as of yesterday we have made the following health protocols to ensure our children, staff and community are safe. Please abide by these health measures as we want to ensure we are all kept safe:

Tahuna School Health Measures

  • Regular hand sanitising
  • Cough in elbow or tissue
  • No water fountains – water bottles available to children who don’t bring a water bottle
  • All classrooms and areas being used are thoroughly cleaned daily
  • Classrooms are well ventilated by having doors and windows open
  • No assemblies with visitors
  • All visitors sign in at the office when coming onsite either using the covid scan or hardcopy register
  • If your child is displaying cold/flu like symptoms please keep your child at home

New health measures added to strengthen Level 2

  • All visitors must wear a mask on school site – parents, families, trades, MOE, anybody visiting. The school will have face masks for staff and visitors if they are required.
  • If a parent needs to see the teacher or vice versa then the teacher must wear a mask and they may talk at the fence.
  • If a parent or visitor needs to pick up their child (for an appointment etc.) they come to the office to sign in and a member of staff goes to the classroom to collect the child for the parent or visitor.

Blue Friday
Our Student Council is organising a ‘Blue Day’ this Friday to raise awareness for our friends and whanau living with Diabetes. We are encouraging all of our students to support this day by dressing up in blue.

Life Education
We have the life education bus and Harold the Giraffe onsite on the 23rd, 24th and 25th November. Always an exciting learning opportunity for our children with a health focus. Plus the added bonus of Harold’s humour which the kids love!

Teacher Only Day
On Friday the 26th November our teachers have a teacher only day therefore school is closed. The TOD’s are in the teachers collective agreement accord and are used to support our teachers with their workload and or professional development.

Athletics Week
The week beginning the 29th November the children will be participating in athletics in the afternoons to have a go at all the athletics events. On Friday they will be involved in an athletics display. Unfortunately due to current health measures we cannot have parents attending.

Pool and water slide
We have had some hot afternoons at Tahuna School and it’s great to see most of our children bringing their togs and a towel to enjoy our pool and water slide. Two fantastic resources to have and even better when our children get to use these often particularly during the warmer parts of the year.

Thanks
Phillip and Staff
