Newsletter Week 2, Term 1
Kia ora and welcome to our 1st newsletter of the 2022 school year!
We sincerely hope you all enjoyed time spent with family and friends over the summer time! It has been great to see in week 1 and 2 our children settle into their learning routines quickly and re-connecting with their friends. We would like to welcome our new children and their families to Tahuna School they are; Teddy, Stella, Lottie, Hollie, Leah, Jack, Eloise and Jack G.
Our aspirations for all our children is through our School Vision ‘Learners for Life’ and our mission is ‘To develop dynamic learners who make a positive contribution to our community.’

Our School Values underpin our desire to be the best we can be!

Our teachers and children in their classrooms have been discussing our school values and what they mean to us as a school. To enhance and identify children who show our values we have created new looking values cards and our values box has been recreated by Endurance room. Thanks Endurance!

Covid Health Measure at Traffic Light Red
I would like to say a big thankyou to our Tahuna families supporting our health measures to ensure we are safe and learning continues at school. I also appreciate the communications I have had with parents on the new health measures. The way these have been conducted have shown our school value of Respect and this gives me great confidence that again during another tricky time for us all we can work together and do the best we can for our children, staff and community.

Important

  • Please let us know immediately if you, your whanau or your child are identified as a positive case or a close contact
  • Please keep your child at home if they are displaying flu like symptoms
  • If there is a confirmed case in school, I will contact the regional director of Education and Ministry of Health for guidance.

Property Update
The major project funding has been allocated to go towards our Court Cover Shelter that has just been given the tick of approval and should be starting some time in 2022. This will be an exciting addition to our school facilities for many years to come.  When the first stage is complete the court will be 2/5 covered. We will continue to fundraise and allocate funding to complete the whole project in due course.

Swimming
Swimming is an important focus in Term 1 and our classrooms will swim everyday. Our children will be developing both their swimming and water safety skills. Therefore it is important all our children bring their togs and a towel to participate in their class swimming lessons. Please ensure that the children have their togs and towel each day (named) regardless of the weather. If your child is unable to swim please notify the school.

Congratulations
A big congratulations to Clare and Fitzy for their precious arrival of baby Freddie Scott Fitz-John. Clare is doing well and is loving being a mum.

Sponsorship
