Kia ora Tahuna families and whanau,

Wow! It was super special to see the amazing Dr Suess costumes today. The positive buzz and vibe at the start of the day was fantastic! I enjoyed listening to our children who shared their characters with me and seeing the smiles on their faces. Thank you parents for supporting our dress up day and we hope you enjoy the photos!

Welcome to Jack G and his family to Tahuna School. Jack started in Endeavour room yesterday.

 Covid Questions and Answers

Q: Who do we advise if our child tests positive for Covid-19?

Please contact Mr Otto on 0223711511 or email principal@tahunaschool.school.nz as soon as   possible.

Q: My child has tested positive for Covid-19.
 What does this mean?

  • Your child (and the household) will need to self isolate for 10 days
  • Testing will happen on Day Three and Day Ten
  • If at school we will anonymously notify the wider school community of a case to encourage watching for symptoms.
  • If at home your family will be close contacts and will need to self isolate as per the guidelines

Q: My child is a close contact of a case within our household.
What does that mean? In Phase 3, being a household contact means your child (along with all   members of the household) must self-isolate for ten days. Testing will happen on Day Three   and Day Ten. Your child can stop isolating and return to school after a negative Day 10 test.

Q: My child is a close contact of a case not in our household.
Can they come to school? Your child can come to school. Anyone who is a close contact of a   non-household member does not need to self-isolate. You are advised to watch symptoms.   self-isolate and get tested should symptoms develop.

 Q: My child is self-isolating.
What school work will be available? A range of hardpacks and online learning activities will   be available for families to access. If there are situations where staff are isolating as well as a   class we will shift to a distance learning programme.

If a student is unwell, there is no expectation for them to do any work. If a staff member is   unwell they will not be able to provide the distance learning programme until advised.
Note: if your child’s class is isolating please check seesaw.

 Favourite Place at School

It’s always great to see our children playing on the many outdoor resources we offer and some   of our juniors would like to share their favourite thing to do on our playground:

  1. Cooper and Arlo like the slide because they can play forest lava.
  2. Liam likes the merry go round because Teddy can push him.
  3. Eloise likes the monkey bars because she can swing around.
  4. Paige likes the sandpit as she has lots of fun with her friends.
  5. Jurous likes playing farmer farmer on the court.
  6. Jack likes the logs to do balancing.
