Principal’s Comment
Welcome to our new children who have started recently. In Endeavour we have Charlie, Eden and Elijah. In Maungaturoto we have Jayden and Discovery we have Taylor and Aaleyah. You all have settled in well at our school!
Term 2 has shown to be another challenging time with disruptions from covid, flu’s and tummy bugs. As a result we have had many children and staff away. However, throughout the entire term our proud Tahuna spirit has shone through and learning has continued!
Despite the tricky term our focus on participating and contributing has been rewarding and our children have had the opportunity to be involved in many amazing events these were EPRO 8 challenge and National Young Leaders Day for the seniors, Biathlon house competition, Pink Shirt Day, Fun sports day – netball, rugby, and basketball, and four teams playing in the netball after school competition in Morrinsville, trip to Mount Pukemokemoke for the juniors, World Book Dress Up Day, Northern rugby club day, School cross-country, Winter netball festival and the Interschool cross-country (organised by us) Life Education and Matariki week. Well done to everybody who was involved in some shape or form to make our events successful!
To our amazing Tahuna children, you all bring a smile to my face with your enthusiasm and passion for learning, and living our ICARES values.
I would like to express a sincere thankyou to Gill Constantine for teaching Discovery room this term. It has been a pleasure working with Gill and it’s been great to have her sharing her knowledge with our team. Gill is in the planning stages for her trip to visit family in Canada. She will be back as our part time teacher two days a week doing beginner teacher release (Miss I’Anson) and deputy principal release (Mrs Simmonds) in Week 4. She will be at the parent conferences with Mrs Craw for Discovery room. I would also like to express a big thank you to both Nicole Coombes and Louise Drummond for your fantastic work as our release teachers. We look forward to having you both back in the first three weeks to do the release teaching while Gill is in Canada.
To our hardworking staff, well done to you all for working through another challenging term with illnesses/child absences/staff absences. I appreciate your commitment to our children’s education and their well-being.
To our great parents, thank you for your continued strong support of our school and what we have to offer at Tahuna School. Equally thankyou for supporting our health measures through the term. We will continue to monitor the health response situation to covid especially if we have a big increase in cases at school and we will follow guidance from MOE/MOH.
