We learnt about the word 'am' and 'am family' words. These are words like ham, ram and jam. Because of this we made jam sandwiches! we practiced using our fine motor skills by spreading the jam on the bread. Then we made a word bank and learnt about nouns, verbs and adjectives.

We have been fascinated by the summer insects in our school grounds. We now have a swan plant in our room so we can watch the caterpillars change.

We loved reading the story of the puriri moth that lives for only one day!

Welcome to the new entrant, year 1 class. We are a teaching team in Endeavour, with Mrs Belinda Duncan and Mrs Bev Barbarich. or Mrs B as the children all call me.

We currently have 11 children in our class and a fine looking bunch we are too!! We are looking forward to welcoming more friends when they turn 5!

All children in Endeavour participate in the "Early words programme" with teacher aides Miss Foster and Ms Ryan.

Term 2 was exciting and challenging as worked hard not only in class but in training for cross country. We had great fun playing in the Gingko tree leaves and produced some great writing and artwork. The school wide focus was "Matariki". Twice a week in the afternoons we were put into our Whanau groups and went to different activities, kite making, flax weaving, poi and waiata, traditional maori games, tukutuku patterns, and the night sky.

Social Skills and Oral Language

We have been learning how to share, take turns and show respect to others in the classroom. We are also           learning to communicate effectively with others and make new friends.

Maths

As well as the number strand in maths we have focused on Geometry where we have learned about and used 2D and 3D shapes to solve problems and create pictures.
We have also had fun with some basic graphs, sharing the information and then creating our own.
